Please understand, it was a business decision to remove the memorabilia from the walls. We will mount the Membership Board for the Post in the South Room, where meetings take place. In order to remain competitive in room rentals in the Omaha area, we had to make one room more attractive to prospective clients. There is no diminishing or disrespecting our Veterans at work here. We believe it was a sound decision which will help extend the longevity of the Post for years to come.
We started the renovation project of the Benson VFW Post 2503 recently. In February, the first volunteer crew worked on a Saturday to replace the ceiling tiles in the North Room, clean grates and light fixtures. We have now replaced wall sconces, added spotlights on the new Honor Guard wall in the bar and in the hall between restrooms and new office storage room.
We are replacing blinds in the north room and have replaced the flooring in the serving area and dance floor. Another volunteer group worked on February 27, 2021 with painting the walls in the north room. We have added a barn-door closing on the North Bar. The art work add a touch of class to the room and look more pleasing in photos of the rentals we hope to attract; wedding receptions, parties, dances, and family friendly events. We need to remember, room rental income is a major source of income to keeping the Post vital and serving Veterans.
Here are photos of the newly redecorated North Room. The carpeting has been cleaned and now we are waiting for window replacement, and installation of new blinds. It is really classy-looking. Thanks for your support.
